Map zones
Zones are areas of the map with their own rules. With them, robots can charge and rest on their own, wait their turn before a narrow corridor, slow down near people, trigger devices such as doors, and move between floors.
You create and edit zones in the Map editor. The Type list in the editor offers the following zones:
| Type in the Map editor | What it does |
|---|---|
| Action zone | Runs mission presets when a robot enters or leaves the area. |
| Buffer zone | Makes robots queue station by station, for example before a busy area. |
| Capacity zone | Limits how many robots can be in the area at the same time. |
| Charging zone | Marks a charger, so robots can recharge on their own. |
| Evacuation zone | Where robots go when the emergency stop is pressed. |
| Forbidden zone | An area robots must not drive through. |
| Level transition zone | Lets robots move between floors, for example in a lift. |
| Navigation area | The part of the map where robots can drive and where you can create stations and paths. |
| Resting zone | Where idle robots wait for their next mission. |
| Speed zone | Limits the speed of robots in the area. |
| Tag zone | Labels an area on the map. It doesn’t change how robots behave. |
| Waiting zone | Where robots wait while a capacity zone is full. |
Add a zone
-
In the Map editor, make sure the SVG map layer is shown.
-
Click Add zones on map in the side toolbar and choose a tool:
- Rectangle tool: for a rectangular zone. Available for every type.
- Line tool: for a zone of any shape. Not available for charging, resting, waiting and level transition zones.
The Add new zone dialog opens.
-
Enter a Name and choose the Type. The dialog then shows the settings for that type, described on each zone’s page. If you leave the name empty, the zone is named automatically, for example Charging Zone 1.
-
Click
Create zone. -
Draw the zone on the map:
- With the Rectangle tool, click and drag.
- With the Line tool, click to add each corner, then click the first corner again to close the zone. You can also press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on Mac) to close and save it. Press Esc to cancel.
The zone is saved as soon as you finish drawing it.
The Commands box in the bottom right corner of the map shows the mouse and keyboard shortcuts for the tool you are using.
Edit or delete a zone
Click a zone on the map to open a dialog with its settings. Change what you need and save, or click Delete to delete the zone.
To move a zone, use Enable draggable points in the side toolbar. See Move stations, paths and zones.
Robots only receive your changes when you send the map to them.
